    Airport Security

Airport security can be so hit or miss sometimes, to the point it will drive even the most seasoned traveler crazy! While everyone always seems to be in a rush or a bad mood, you all still have to go through the same process. That’s why doing some planning ahead of time will help you not worry nearly as much as you get ready to go through security.

In order to alleviate any fears or concerns about security before heading to the airport, keep reading to see the best suggestions that will help the experience go smoothly for you and your party!

What to Pack This is the most important point on how navigate security so you won’t get frustrated before you even board the plane. Be sure to check your country’s rules and regulations on what is allowed in your carry-on. How much liquid can you bring, are any electronics banned, are certain aerosol hair products allowed? The more research you do on this part of your trip the better experience you, and everyone behind you on line, will have getting through security. It also helps to pack no more than you absolutely need to take on the plane with you - do you really need those change of clothes, or could they be checked in?

What to Wear Some airlines and countries no longer require you to take off your shoes, belts, and watches to go through the machines. But some still do. And sometimes it feels like the rules change every time you fly. It’s best to prepare for whatever security will tell you. Don’t wear jeans that require a belt. Wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off and don’t require you to hold up the line — and never forget to wear socks just in case!

What to do Before Getting on Line While many airports these days do offer tracking systems that let you know how long it’ll take to get through security, they may not be entirely accurate. Make sure you and the people you are travelling with use the restroom before heading to the line. Also make sure you throw away any water or soda bottles and empty reusable cups. As you’re about to be next, empty your pockets and make sure your phone isn’t hidden away as that will need to be scanned too.

How to Calm your Security Anxiety There are plenty of reasons why you may get anxious before heading through security. The biggest reason may be worries about missing your flight if it takes too long. Now that a lot more people are traveling, really try to get to the airport more than two hours before a flight to ensure you’ll be okay with security. Double check that you have no contraband or anything that will set a machine off. And it’s okay if you’ve forgotten that your water bottle was still in there, it happens to all of us. Don’t let it ruin your trip.

Traveling should never cause anxiety, especially right when you start your journey. All it takes is a little planning beforehand to make your airport security experience run smooth and enjoyable.
